The Land

Well, this is us…a decent sized corner block that faces a 100m wide riparian corridor, one street back from Bluestone Crescent, Glenmore Park.

Disguised beneath the arrow above are three splays we will have to contend with when it comes time to build. Yes, this will be a difficult block to work with when our builders draw up and submit plans. Council’s strict controls on building setbacks leaves us with a building envelope that covers only 28% of the land. And yet, despite this fact, we believe we’ve chosen the best block in the release. It is one of only two north facing blocks, has only one real neighbour (lot1427) and faces natural bushland. With the angle of Deerubbin Drive we will also have fairly exapansive views over Mulgoa Reserve (which is to the left of the picture, directly opposite lots1401 & 1402). Lot1427 must have their garage built to our longest and straightest boundary and lot1428 (behind us) must have their garage built to our back boundary. This means that at no stage will houses be any closer than a few metres from our fences. Private, pretty and potential plus; lot1426 will be the home of our dreams.

Here we stand on our land as it is November, 2011. You can just see the gutters behind the blurred boundaries of chainlink fencing and the large piles of earth that have been moved to “cut up” our land. It’s strange to think that this time next year (God willing), we’ll be standing in front of our home.
